Role overview
This is a full-time, on-site position in Erfurt. A relocation package may be provided if relocation is needed.
Amazon’s People eXperience and Technology (PXT) organization works to support a safe, inclusive, and innovative workplace while helping the business perform at a high level. In this role, you will act as a campus-level HR leader, partnering with site, business, and HR stakeholders to strengthen organizational health, improve employee experience, and execute scalable people practices. The position calls for strong prioritization, sound judgment, and the ability to lead through others to improve attrition, attendance, engagement, and leadership effectiveness across multiple sites. Regular travel and on-site presence at Amazon facilities are required so you can provide hands-on leadership and direct support where needed.
What you will do
You will guide HR Partners and HR Business Partners while driving operational discipline, employee experience initiatives, leadership support, and organizational health programs across the campus.
PXT operational excellence
- Set the expectation that campus PXT teams follow Amazon standards consistently and with discipline.
- Use inspections, process checks, and data to find gaps, confirm process quality, and strengthen accountability.
- Own end-to-end execution of operational practices, including documentation quality and timely closure of issues.
- Escalate systemic concerns appropriately and surface recurring product or process pain points to central teams for scalable fixes.
- Promote simplification and standardization to drive continuous improvement.
Employee experience and culture
- Support engagement and retention efforts by ensuring leaders use feedback tools such as Voice of the Associate boards, roundtables, and GEMBA walks.
- Oversee recognition programs, including budget control and execution accountability.
- Partner with site leaders to maintain safety standards and ensure workplace conditions remain fit for purpose.
- Carry out regular building checks and routines to sustain site standards.
- Back community engagement initiatives that create positive local impact.
- Track employee sentiment through floor presence, data review, and feedback loops, and hold leaders accountable for action plans that improve culture.
PXT leadership
- Oversee investigations, corrective actions, and employee relations cases, including final decisions on high-risk matters such as terminations.
- Act as the main escalation point for complex issues and coordinate with Regional PXT, Legal, and ER teams.
- Reduce compliance risk by setting early warning mechanisms and making balanced, high-judgment decisions.
- Work with country governance teams and Works Council representatives to support consultation processes and co-determination requirements.
- Lead regional change efforts, remove barriers to adoption, and model the right behaviors.
- Strengthen collaboration between site-level and central PXT teams.
- Promote the use of HR technology, analytics, and digital tools to improve efficiency, data accuracy, and employee experience.
Talent planning and organizational health
- Support leadership development and coaching for operations leaders across levels.
- Drive workforce and succession planning for key roles.
- Identify succession risks and put mitigation plans in place.
- Lead talent reviews for hourly and leadership populations to support fair selection, retention, and performance.
- Address underperformance effectively and coach leaders to close performance gaps.
Building the PXT team
- Develop a strong PXT organization through team development and professional growth.
- Manage succession and promotion decisions within the PXT team.
- Create opportunities for team members to gain leadership exposure.
- Review team health using engagement data and feedback.
- Manage headcount and resource allocation to maintain the right coverage and capability.
- Translate Amazon priorities into execution plans for the region and campus.
A day in the role
The role combines leadership, business partnering, and hands-on operational work across several sites. You will work closely with site, business, and HR leaders on complex issues, coach your HR team to deepen their strategic contribution, inspect building and safety conditions, run employee feedback sessions, review metrics, and resolve escalations. Your success will come from leading through others, balancing competing priorities, and turning data and observations into improvements in employee experience and business results.
Qualifications and experience
You should bring strong HR leadership experience, excellent communication in English and German, and a record of using data and workforce insights to deliver outcomes. Experience in employee-centered processes such as onboarding, benefits, investigations, training, or talent management is important. Preferred background includes senior HR leadership, experience with hourly and salaried populations, employment law knowledge, strong coaching and people leadership capability, and a track record of enabling digital transformation and better employee experience.
