Job Overview
The room attendant supports the housekeeping operation by keeping guest accommodations and shared hotel areas clean, orderly, and inviting. This position helps create a comfortable stay and contributes directly to guest satisfaction.
Key Duties
- Prepare guest rooms by cleaning and organizing them to the required standards, including dusting, vacuuming, changing bed linens, and making beds.
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, covering fixtures, surfaces, and provided amenities.
- Wipe down furniture, decorative pieces, and other surfaces in guest rooms and public spaces.
- Replace guest supplies such as toiletries, towels, and linens as needed.
- Remove waste from guest rooms and common areas and install fresh liners.
- Maintain floors by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming in rooms, hallways, and other shared areas.
- Flag any maintenance or repair problems and share them with the appropriate team member.
- Watch for misplaced guest belongings in rooms and public spaces and report them to a supervisor.
- Handle guest questions and requests politely and professionally.
- Protect guest privacy and follow hotel security procedures at all times.
Skills And Abilities
- Prior housekeeping or similar hospitality experience is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of proper cleaning methods, products, and tools.
- Ability to work on your own, manage room assignments, and keep housekeeping carts organized.
- Good communication skills for working with guests and coworkers.
- Basic knowledge of sanitation and workplace safety practices.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
Working Conditions & Physical Effort
This role involves substantial physical activity, including extended periods of standing and walking, as well as climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Work may take place indoors around cleaning equipment and machinery, and can involve exposure to temperature extremes, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, odors, and noise. Because the job may include physical hazards, it requires adherence to safety precautions and the use of appropriate protective equipment.
