Compton Green Enterprise Services (CGES) provides specialist property, facilities, and asset management support for complex government portfolios. The business delivers maintenance, compliance, and project services for assets managed on behalf of state, local, and federal government clients across Victoria.

The work environment is highly regulated, so safe working practices, compliance, and fast response times are essential. CGES is currently delivering a large facilities maintenance contract across government-owned properties and is building its internal capability as the portfolio continues to grow.

Role Overview

This opportunity is for an experienced Repairer / Handyman to assist with facilities maintenance across a government portfolio in metropolitan and greater Melbourne. The position is practical and field-based, ideally suited to someone with strong hands-on experience in general handyman work, especially across carpentry, locksmithing, or a mix of both.

You will work through a Melbourne-based operations team and handle priority maintenance tasks, defects, and small-scale projects across multiple sites.

Key Duties

• Carry out reactive, planned, and minor maintenance work across government assets.
• Complete general handyman tasks with particular attention to carpentry, locks, doors, access issues, and minor defect repairs.
• Attend urgent jobs and priority maintenance calls at different locations.
• Partner with CGES operations staff and facility users on site to ensure work is practical, compliant, and delivered efficiently.
• Operate with a strong awareness of safety, compliance, and live-environment requirements.
• Record and report completed work using the required systems and processes.
• Liaise with internal teams and subcontractors when needed.
• Assist with small project delivery while remaining hands-on in the field.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone with demonstrated experience in handyman or maintenance work, preferably within facilities or property settings. Strong ability in carpentry and/or locksmithing is highly valued.

The right person should be comfortable working independently, planning their own day, engaging confidently with stakeholders, and coordinating works on site. A practical, solution-oriented approach with good attention to detail is important, along with the ability to work within structured, compliance-led systems.

Trade qualifications are preferred, though not essential if experience is strong. A current driver’s licence is required.

Only experienced candidates with a solid background in field-based maintenance roles should apply.
