ജോലി വിവരണം
Role overview
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is seeking a full-time General Porter to join its Facilities Directorate and support portering services at Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. The role is focused on delivering a reliable, responsive and efficient service for patients, staff, visitors and other service users.
This position suits someone who is energetic, positive, well motivated and comfortable working closely with others. Strong communication and people skills are important. Experience in a healthcare setting would be helpful, though it is not required because full training will be given.
What the role involves
The General Porter is part of a multi-skilled team responsible for maintaining a high-quality portering service. The work includes safely moving patients, equipment, documents, linen, waste and other items while helping ensure the hospital environment remains clean, safe and well organised.
Day-to-day duties may be carried out in both patient-facing and non-patient areas. The postholder is expected to respond quickly to service demands and look for ways to improve both efficiency and service quality.
Health, safety and compliance
All duties must be performed in accordance with Health and Safety requirements, Infection Prevention standards, Security procedures, and all Trust policies and processes.
About the Trust
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is recognised as one of the top 10 NHS Trusts in the country and was named the second-best Trust to work for in the South East in the 2023 NHS Staff Survey. The Trust is a major acute hospital provider in south-east England, serving around 600,000 residents across West Kent and East Sussex, and supporting specialist cancer services for more than two million people through the Kent Oncology Centre.
Fordcombe Hospital joined the Trust in October 2024. It provides planned care and includes two operating theatres, 28 inpatient and day-care beds, diagnostic services such as X-ray, MRI, CT and endoscopy, as well as consultation and treatment rooms.
Flexible working
The Trust promotes flexible working and is open to discussing adjusted hours or other working arrangements where possible to support both employee needs and service delivery.
Benefits
The role comes with a strong benefits package, including at least 27 days of annual leave plus public and bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time staff, NHS Pension Scheme membership with a 20.6% employer contribution and life assurance cover, Blue Light card eligibility, and additional benefits as outlined in the Trust’s benefits information.
