About the role
US Foods is looking for a Fueler to support yard operations by refueling tractors and trailers that return each day. This position plays an important part in keeping the fleet ready for service through careful fuel tracking, monitoring tank levels, and completing routine checks on equipment.
Applicants currently employed by US Foods are expected to submit their application through the company’s internal Workday career system.
Schedule
The shift runs Monday through Friday, with occasional Sundays, starting at 12:00 pm and continuing until the work is finished.
Compensation
The starting pay rate is $21.25 per hour. The expected base range for the position is $21.25 to $26.00 per hour, depending on relevant experience, education, specific skills, function, and location. Overtime pay may also apply.
What the role involves
This job focuses on refueling fleet vehicles, maintaining accurate nightly records, checking fluid levels, and helping ensure fuel availability for the yard. It also includes basic maintenance-related checks and occasional light cleaning of fleet equipment.
Responsibilities
- Carry out the 10-point fuel island safety inspection across the fleet.
- Refuel tractors and trailers when they return to the yard.
- Check oil levels in all equipment.
- Keep accurate fuel logs and records.
- Perform minor cleaning on fleet equipment when needed.
Qualifications
Strong reading, writing, and communication skills in English are needed for the job and for safety compliance. Candidates should also have basic math ability, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
A high school diploma or GED is preferred. A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License issued in the state of legal residence, along with the required endorsements and DOT qualification, is also preferred. Meeting DOT medical requirements is preferred as well.

- Must be able to use, or learn to use, the tools and equipment required for the role.
- Must complete all job tasks safely.
- Must be available for the assigned schedule and any required overtime.
- Must be able to understand or learn MSDS information for materials used on the job.
- Must be able to apply tire chains.
- Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to back up trailers within one week.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including extreme climates.
- Must follow company safety procedures and policies at all times.
