Role Overview
Cappy Media is seeking a freelance writer for Cappy Army to craft engaging stories around military, intelligence, and geopolitical subjects for a large YouTube audience. The work blends academic-style research with news-style writing, with the goal of turning complex material into watchable, easy-to-follow narratives.
What You’ll Write
- Develop long-form YouTube scripts in the 1,800–4,000 word range.
- Research military affairs, intelligence, weapons, and global political issues.
- Track down distinctive details through OSINT, white papers, government reports, think tank publications, and other primary sources.
- Convert dense subjects into clear, engaging storytelling.
- Shape scripts to sustain tension, raise the stakes, and keep curiosity alive throughout.
- Break down military ideas for viewers who may not have any defense background.
What the Team Wants
- A writer who is first and foremost a strong storyteller, with research skills as a close second.
- Excellent command of a conversational, easy-to-understand writing style.
- A genuine ability to create original scripts without relying on ChatGPT for generation.
- Skill in finding information beyond surface-level search results.
- Exposure to military history, defense technology, intelligence organizations, geopolitics, or contemporary warfare.
- The ability to anticipate and answer the questions a viewer would naturally have as the narrative progresses.
- Knowledge of audience retention and viewer psychology for YouTube is a strong advantage.
