Role overview
Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu is hiring a permanent, full-time Farm Data & Technology Coordinator based in Christchurch – Ōtautahi and working across multiple sites. The position sits within Ngāi Tahu Farming and is designed for someone who can bridge farm operations with systems, information, and technology.
The purpose of the role is to help make farm data, platforms, and technology work effectively across the wider farming portfolio. You will partner with Farm Managers, operational teams, and leaders to keep information accurate, consistent, and valuable for operational and strategic decision-making.
This role also supports the way information is collected, reported, and improved over time, while assisting with the rollout and ongoing refinement of farm systems and technology. It acts as a practical link between on-farm activity and reporting, turning raw information into insights that support both everyday operations and longer-term performance.
The role is well suited to someone who enjoys working across farm operations and data, is comfortable helping others use systems, and takes a hands-on, practical approach to improving processes.
About Ngāi Tahu Farming
Ngāi Tahu Farming’s purpose is to create sustainable products from the environment in a way that reflects Ngāi Tahu values. The organisation is focused on delivering lasting value while protecting and enhancing the whenua.
It operates across a varied farming portfolio and is committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and creating positive influence across the sector.
Through this position, you will contribute to growing and safeguarding the tribal pūtea for future generations, guided by the kaupapa: “Mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei” — for us and our children after us.
What you will bring
The ideal person will combine practical exposure with curiosity about data and systems. You should be confident working with reporting tools and farm information, and able to apply a detail-focused, problem-solving mindset.
You will also need to communicate well across teams, explain information clearly, and work collaboratively while helping build capability in others. Adaptability is important, as the role involves working across different farms and teams, along with a willingness to strengthen your understanding of Ngāi Tahu values and culture.
What the role offers
Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu offers a values-led environment that supports the professional and cultural growth of kaimahi. You will join a supportive and experienced farming team, with opportunities to deepen your understanding of te reo Māori and tikanga, and develop leadership capability over time.
The position provides year-round variety in a dynamic farming setting, with exposure to calf rearing and dairy support operations. The workplace is inclusive, safety-focused, and committed to ongoing learning and development.
Application process
