Role overview
This full-time permanent position is based on-site at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Murdoch, Perth. It is best suited to professionals with a background in emergency services or similar emergency response environments.
The Safety and Incident Management Service (SIMS) team is central to maintaining safety across the hospital by responding quickly and professionally to safety, security, and emergency events. In this role, you will help ensure the hospital is ready for emergency, disruptive, and disaster situations by coordinating preparedness activities, delivering training, and improving emergency management systems and processes.
You will work closely with stakeholders across the hospital to support a safe, responsive, and resilient environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee emergency management operations and disaster preparedness initiatives.
- Provide emergency response training and education to hospital teams.
- Draft, update, and review emergency plans, policies, and procedures.
- Run audits, drills, and exercises that strengthen readiness.
- Support upkeep of emergency equipment and readiness of resources.
- Work with stakeholders to maintain compliance, training effectiveness, and ongoing improvement.

Candidate profile
Ideal candidates will bring experience from emergency management, emergency services, or incident response settings, along with the ability to communicate clearly and build strong relationships with varied stakeholders. Comfort in delivering training and explaining technical information in a straightforward way is important, as is practical knowledge of preparedness and recovery planning.
Experience with audits, exercise coordination, or emergency resource management would be advantageous.
Qualifications and other requirements
Preferred qualifications include a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, auditing qualifications and experience, and a Diploma in Public Safety or Emergency Management, or equivalent experience. A current CPR certification is also desirable. Applicants who are willing to obtain the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment may also be considered.
