Role overview
Foxboro Elementary is seeking a Preparation Time Specialist to step in during teacher prep periods by leading classes and overseeing students. The role involves planning lessons, organizing classroom materials, and delivering instruction in assigned subject areas such as physical education, music, art, science, computer applications, media center use, languages, and health.
Work location and schedule
This position is based at Foxboro Elementary in Foxboro, Ontario, Canada. It is a full-time, on-site role for the upcoming 2026–27 school year. The schedule is approximately 4.2 hours per day across 174 days per year. This is a classified opening that will stay open until it is filled. The reference number for the position is 2026-564C.
Pay details
The hourly wage is $19.98 under Salary Grade 6 on the 2026–27 Support Salary Table. Promotional movement results in at least a 5% increase.
Primary duties
Reporting to the Principal or another supervisor, the specialist covers classes and supervises students while regular teachers are on preparation time. The role includes creating lesson plans, preparing instructional materials, and teaching assigned topics in specialized subject areas.
Education and experience
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with education or training in the area of specialization preferred. The district also requires one of the following: two years of post-secondary education totaling 48 semester hours, an associate degree, or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education-approved Para-Professional Test at a later date. No prior job experience is required, although experience working with children is preferred.
Skills and abilities
The position calls for solid knowledge of the subject matter being taught, the ability to manage and teach assigned course content effectively, and strong interpersonal skills for working with students, teachers, and other school staff.
