About the role
As a Dispenser in a Boots store, you will be an important part of the pharmacy team, helping the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently. Much of your time will be spent in the healthcare area of the store, where you will build trusted relationships with patients, take time to understand what they need, and support them with medicines and wellbeing advice.
This position is based in-store in the UK only. Remote applicants will not be considered. Applications from candidates outside the UK will only be progressed where relevant UK qualifications and the right to work in the UK can be confirmed and evidenced.
Pay
The hourly pay for this position is £13.92, rising to as much as £16.64 in selected London locations.
What you will do
- Handle prescription dispensing tasks while making sure medicines are supplied safely, including ordering, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
- Support the store’s healthcare team in delivering pharmacy services.
- Offer patients guidance on medicines and pass on queries to the pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed legally and safely.
- Stay current with new in-store developments and follow operational processes.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and medicines effectively so they can stay on track with treatment and reduce waste.
You will also work with changing in-store technology and new systems that are designed to improve dispensing, strengthen patient safety, and free up more time for patient care.
Training and development
You will receive regular updates and training to grow your healthcare knowledge, along with career development opportunities such as training to become a Pharmacy Technician or progressing into store leadership.
What you need
- Either a completed Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification, or you must currently be working towards one and have completed the first year of an MPharm degree.
- Valid UK right to work.
Desirable experience
- Experience in a community pharmacy setting would be beneficial.
