The team
The EMEA Logistics team manages the movement of goods from Mattel manufacturing sites to customers across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The team also keeps internal and external stakeholders informed so they can have confidence in Mattel’s brands and supply chain. Its focus includes strategic planning, productivity, quality, service metrics, and ongoing improvement.
Role overview
The Director, Logistics EMEA will lead logistics operations across the EMEA region, making sure product distribution is efficient, cost-conscious, and dependable from factories to retailers and consumers. The role is especially important during seasonal demand spikes, such as holiday periods, while maintaining strong service for key retail partners and improving the overall logistics network.
Key responsibilities
- Direct inbound and outbound transport across ocean, air, road, and rail modes.
- Manage external logistics partners, including 3PLs, freight forwarders, and carriers.
- Protect high service standards by delivering on time and in full to major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Carrefour, and Smyths Toys.
- Oversee regional distribution centres and e-commerce fulfilment activities.
- Ensure warehouse operations can scale for peak demand, especially during Q3 and Q4 toy season.
- Improve warehouse productivity, accuracy, and safety performance.
- Own the EMEA logistics budget covering transport, warehousing, and duties.
- Deliver cost-saving improvements without reducing service quality.
- Monitor and report key metrics such as OTIF, unit cost, lead times, and inventory turns.
- Work closely with demand planning, manufacturing, sales, and customer fulfilment teams.
- Align logistics execution with product launches and promotional calendars.
- Contribute to S&OP and IBP planning processes.
- Ensure adherence to trade regulations, customs requirements, and ESG expectations.
- Anticipate and respond to risks such as geopolitical disruptions, port congestion, and supply shocks.
- Lead contingency planning and support crisis response when needed.
- Lead, coach, and develop a distributed team across geographies.
- Create a strong culture of accountability, performance, and collaboration.
- Build succession plans and develop future talent pipelines.
Requirements
- 10 to 15+ years of experience in logistics or supply chain, preferably within FMCG or consumer goods.
- Demonstrated leadership over multi-country logistics operations in EMEA.
- Strong background in managing 3PL partners and complex distribution networks.
- Experience handling seasonal demand swings or high-volatility sectors such as toys, retail, or fashion.
- Ability to think strategically while also delivering strong operational execution.
- Solid understanding of international transport and trade compliance.
- Good financial judgment, including budget control and cost optimisation.
- Comfort using ERP, WMS, and TMS tools to make data-led decisions.
- Experience engaging senior stakeholders and influencing across internal and external networks.
- Excellent communication skills across a variety of settings and audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related subject, or equivalent experience.

The total compensation package is built using objective, gender-neutral factors such as job level, work location, relevant skills, and experience.
