Bay FC is the Bay Area’s first National Women’s Soccer League team. Founded by Brandi Chastain, Aly Wagner, Danielle Slaton, and Leslie Osborne in partnership with Sixth Street, the club is focused on reshaping women’s soccer with energy, boldness, and creativity. The team began competing in the 2024 season and aims to build a culture defined by belonging, pride, and community connection.

Role Overview

Bay FC is hiring a Director of Communications to lead business-focused public relations and communications. This person will oversee messaging and strategy across areas such as corporate partnerships, marketing, ticketing, community impact, and executive visibility.

The position requires close collaboration with leaders across the organization to shape communication plans, strengthen brand reputation, and support business objectives. The ideal candidate brings strong media judgment, outstanding writing ability, and the versatility to create polished materials ranging from press releases and speeches to internal updates and leadership briefings.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and lead the club’s business communications approach across partnerships, community initiatives, ticketing, campaign moments, and major organizational announcements.
• Develop compelling story ideas, build relationships with journalists, and secure coverage in business, lifestyle, and culture outlets.
• Create a wide range of content, including press materials, executive remarks, talking points, internal memos, and leadership briefings.
• Support executive visibility through thought leadership content, presentation preparation, panel coaching, and public-facing remarks.
• Work closely with Communications, Marketing, and Social teams to ensure stories are amplified consistently across channels.
• Collaborate with HR and leadership on employee communications such as all-hands meetings, organizational announcements, and staff emails.
• Track media coverage and industry trends related to women’s sports, the Bay Area, and the broader business environment.
• Assist with crisis communications and issue response when sensitive situations arise.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or media relations.
• Strong writing and editing skills with careful attention to detail and brand tone.
• Demonstrated success in developing narratives, pitching reporters, and earning media coverage.
• Background in executive communications, strategic planning, and crisis response.
• A collaborative, hands-on professional who can move quickly and stay effective in changing or unclear situations.
• Excellent organization and the ability to juggle multiple priorities at once.
• Strong enthusiasm for women’s sports and Bay FC’s mission.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends when major events or matches require it.

Compensation

The starting annual salary for this position is from $120,000. The selected hire will also be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Final compensation may differ depending on experience, skills, and the scope of the role.
