Role overview

RALLY is looking for a Digital Designer who is excited to create visuals that help move important social and political causes forward. In this role, you will turn campaign ideas into compelling digital creative that supports advocacy work, strengthens messaging, and helps mission-driven clients connect with their audiences.

You’ll work with strategists, communicators, and digital specialists to produce campaign assets from concept through delivery. The work spans social content, digital ads, presentations, reports, web pieces, and short-form video. The environment is fast-moving and highly collaborative, so success here depends on creativity, adaptability, and the ability to manage several projects at once.

About RALLY

RALLY is an advocacy agency focused on complex political and social issues. The team has partnered with more than 500 organizations, including Climate United, the Hewlett Foundation, the National Indian Child Welfare Association, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, to support meaningful change.

The organization works alongside clients to provide strategy, creative thinking, and partnership across issues such as education, environmental justice, economic equity, gun violence prevention, healthcare access, immigration, LGBTQIA+ rights, and women’s rights. RALLY also states that it is an equal opportunity employer and makes hiring decisions based on merit, qualifications, and organizational needs.

What you will do

You will create digital-first design assets that help campaigns stand out, communicate clearly, and inspire action. The role requires translating complex ideas into accessible, polished visuals while maintaining consistency across multiple clients and channels.

In addition to design execution, you’ll take ownership of your queue, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, present work professionally, and help the team stay current on design and technology trends. There may also be opportunities to contribute to web design, production prep, accessibility checks, and the early stages of brand development.

Responsibilities

  • Design campaign graphics for social platforms, including static posts, carousels, stories, paid ads, and short-form video content.
  • Adapt approved concepts into multiple social formats while keeping the look and feel consistent across accounts.
  • Create digital marketing materials such as ads, email visuals, newsletter graphics, and landing page artwork.
  • Develop decks, reports, toolkits, and fact sheets that turn dense information into clear, engaging visual stories.
  • Convert campaign strategy into effective design solutions that motivate audiences to act.
  • Monitor design, social media, and emerging AI-related creative tools to bring fresh ideas into team brainstorming.
  • Manage multiple design tasks across client and internal workstreams, while communicating timelines and removing blockers proactively.
  • Work closely with creative leads and cross-functional partners to refine deliverables based on feedback.
  • Join client meetings and presentations with a professional, flexible, and curious approach.
  • Contribute to web design work such as wireframes, interface mockups, and web assets when needed.
  • Prepare files for print and digital use, including quality checks, file optimization, and ADA accessibility review.
  • Support brand and campaign development through moodboards, research, color exploration, and logo treatments.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of professional digital design experience in an agency, in-house, freelance, or nonprofit setting.
  • A portfolio that shows strong design fundamentals, careful attention to detail, visual storytelling, and flexibility across digital formats.
  • Advanced working ability in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Canva, and Google Workspace, especially Google Slides.
  • Comfort with basic video editing tools such as CapCut.
  • Understanding of what performs well on TikTok, Instagram Reels, Snapchat, and LinkedIn.
  • Ability to create platform-specific content, including light copywriting and quick video edits.
  • A collaborative, feedback-friendly working style with the ability to adapt quickly and contribute solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain design decisions clearly.
  • Ability to simplify complex social issues into content that is engaging and easy to understand.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle several active projects and track time accurately.
  • Genuine interest in social impact, advocacy, and mission-driven work.

Benefits and perks

  • Paid sabbatical of one month after seven years with the company.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage.
