Role overview
This permanent full-time position is based in Rugby and sits at Grade E, with a salary range of £33,603.00 to £39,276.00. Applications from people on the redeployment register will be reviewed first.
The post is focused on making decisions and handling disclosure matters across a broad range of requests, including Family Court, regulatory body, housing, pressing social need, common law disclosure, and other civil disclosure requests received from the public and external organisations.
Main duties
- Handle disclosure requests in line with documented Warwickshire Police procedures, taking responsibility for assessing the relevance, accuracy and proportionality of non-conviction, conviction and not guilty information.
- Offer guidance and practical support to Warwickshire Police colleagues, internal teams and outside customers so that processes remain compliant.
- Work under the direction of the Disclosure Supervisor to help deliver a consistent, high-quality service.
- Review ongoing disclosure activity, make recommendations on cases, identify patterns and suggest improvements to disclosure procedures and Force policy.
- Take part in meetings, share feedback and contribute as an effective team member.
- Support the development of new starters and help train and supervise the Disclosure Assistant across all areas of Civil Disclosure.
- Stay aligned with the purpose and priorities of the team, department, directorate and wider organisation.
- Carry out additional duties that match the level, scope and grade of the role.
Knowledge, experience and skills
The successful candidate should hold a Level 3 qualification, or an equivalent standard. They should also understand disclosure procedures and the relevant legislation, and show an ongoing commitment to personal and professional development.
Desirable knowledge includes a working understanding of police disclosure procedures.
Experience is needed in coordinating disclosure and related processes, gathering and assessing evidence, and using that analysis to shape recommendations. The role also requires experience of working in a confidential setting, with strong integrity and discretion. Previous coordination of disclosure processes within a policing environment would be an advantage.
Important skills include the ability to work to demanding deadlines and changing priorities, absorb new information quickly, understand new disclosure policies and processes, and produce clear, concise reports, witness statements and notes of court hearings. Strong verbal and written communication, flexibility, initiative, independence and excellent IT skills are also essential, including confidence with databases, spreadsheets and computer-based resource planning systems.
