Role overview
Gov Facility Services Ltd (GFSL) is looking for a Cleaning Operative to support operations at HMP Swaleside in Warden, England. This is a full-time, permanent position based onsite at a Category B adult male prison. The role is part of a broader facilities team that helps keep the site safe, secure, and running smoothly for prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.
You will work Monday to Friday within a collaborative and supportive environment alongside colleagues from across the maintenance and facilities functions. The work contributes directly to the prison’s day-to-day operation and to GFSL’s wider mission of supporting rehabilitation and positive change.
Key duties
The position involves carrying out cleaning work in a secure environment and maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and order. You will be expected to use your experience in cleaning settings, apply COSHH knowledge, and follow relevant health and safety procedures while managing tasks efficiently and working well with others.

Hours, pay, and benefits
The salary for this role is £25,775.88. The contract is permanent, full-time, and set at 39 hours per week. Annual leave is 25 days plus Bank Holidays.
