Care Assistant

Role overview

Sunbeam House Services is hiring for a permanent Care Assistant role at Helensburgh in Greystones, County Wicklow. The position is based in a warm residential setting that supports four adults aged 50 to 87 who have moderate to high support needs. The service is focused on helping each person live with dignity, independence and genuine choice.

This role sits within an established team of Social Care Workers and Care Assistants. It is a good fit for someone who is committed, compassionate and values person-centred support. The service is also preparing for future de-congregation and a move to a new home designed around the changing needs of the people supported.

The work is full-time, 169 hours per month, and the contract is permanent. A reference number is provided as He01.220226.

Working pattern

Hours are variable and may include day shifts, sleepovers, waking nights, weekends and other unsociable hours.

Key responsibilities

• Support each person through a person-centred approach aligned with their preferences, needs and goals.
• Safeguard dignity, privacy and the right of each individual to make their own choices.
• Encourage people to explore new interests and build meaningful roles in their community.
• Help maintain overall wellbeing, including health support and personal care.
• Assist with developing everyday life skills such as cooking, budgeting, cleaning and confidence building.

Requirements

Applicants should hold at least a Major QQI Level 5 qualification in healthcare, or an equivalent foreign qualification validated by QQI.

Candidates are expected to show commitment to empowering the people they support, work well both independently and as part of a team, and understand HIQA standards and relevant legislation. A full driving licence and access to a car are required. Post-qualification experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities is desirable. Applicants must also have the legal right to work in Ireland.

Pay

Salary is offered on the HSE consolidated pay scales, with placement depending on qualifications and relevant experience. The listing also notes HSE Scale 6482.
