Position Summary
This role focuses on improving buying outcomes by using data to drive stronger sales and margin performance while reducing inventory exposure across the assigned product lines. The position also supports Category Managers throughout the product life cycle.
Core Responsibilities
- Review sales results, stock positions, and supplier performance through different systems and Excel tools to help guide purchasing choices.
- Build and maintain purchase orders based on demand forecasts, sales trends, and promotional plans, then coordinate with vendors on order updates, lead times, backorders, and shipment timing.
- Help manage product transitions, including newly introduced and discontinued SKUs, by ensuring purchases are handled promptly and passed to the correct internal teams.
- Work closely with Category Managers so buying timing aligns with product life cycles and broader business objectives.
- Support tracking of vendor documentation and programs, including vendor forms, price sheets, MAP/MRP policies, and co-op agreements.
- Assist Category Managers and Merchandisers with product research and web content updates.
- Take on additional projects as needed to support the team.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience is required.
- At least 1 to 2 years of experience in business analysis, merchandising analysis, or purchasing/buying support, ideally within eCommerce or retail.
- Strong basic business math skills and the ability to read data patterns and turn insights into actionable purchasing decisions.
- Advanced Excel capability, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and nested IF functions.
- Exposure to SQL for database queries and relational data analysis is considered an advantage.
