About the company
Hawkins is a leading New Zealand construction business known for delivering major and technically demanding projects, including airport terminals, office towers, university facilities, and healthcare buildings. This opportunity sits within the Northern team and is suited to someone who wants to advance their career with a top-tier commercial contractor.
About the role
The Bid Manager will report to the New Business Manager and play a key role in driving the bid process for large-scale commercial projects. The position involves coordinating input from the wider bid team, managing deadlines, and producing strong, targeted submissions that are both persuasive and fully compliant.
This role spans the full bid lifecycle, from early strategic pursuit discussions and planning through project management, drafting and editing technical and non-technical content, coordinating graphic design and production, and carrying out post-bid debriefs. The ideal candidate brings creative thinking and understands how to build tender material that stands out as well as meets requirements.
Key work areas
- Assess pre-qualification and request-for-tender documents to identify what is required.
- Help lead bid strategy discussions with key stakeholders to shape Hawkins' value proposition.
- Build and maintain bid timelines so writing, design, information inputs, and presentation materials are completed on schedule.
- Prepare and coordinate non-technical sections of bids.
- Check written content, layout, and formatting, and work with relevant people to produce a clear, polished, and consistent tender document.
- Support award submission work, including liaison with nominees, drafting, proofreading, and designing templates.
