Warehouse Storeperson

Role overview

At CHILL, this position is the operational backbone of the warehouse. In a temperature-controlled environment, the Storeperson keeps freight moving smoothly so the rest of the floor can do its job without delays. If you like being the person who gets ahead of the shift and keeps the flow steady from start to finish, this role may suit you.

The work is fast-paced and highly coordinated. Trucks need to be unloaded and reloaded without sitting around, stock must be placed where pickers can reach it, packed orders have to be ready on time, and dispatch needs freight at the dock before the driver completes pre-trip checks. When this role is handled well, the entire operation runs efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a counterbalance forklift in chilled and frozen warehouse zones; this is a cold-store environment, not a standard ambient warehouse
• Load and unload vehicles, shift stock to picking locations, and manage pallet movement to maintain a smooth workflow across the floor
• Carry out equipment inspections before every shift and ensure the forklift and related equipment are safe to use
• Work carefully around pedestrians, maintaining required separation distances and following all speed limits and site controls
• Spot, record, and escalate hazards and near misses early so risks are addressed before they become incidents
• Keep the work area tidy, structured, and aligned with CHILL safety expectations and operational standards
• Support pick-and-pack staff by moving stock accurately and promptly so downstream work stays on schedule

Requirements

• Valid LF forklift licence is essential
• High reach forklift licence is preferred, though the LF licence is the minimum requirement
• Previous experience in a temperature-controlled or cold-chain warehouse is an advantage
• Must be available from 7:00am and able to start earlier when the operation requires it
• Needs to be proactive and able to identify tasks before being asked
• Must have the legal right to work in Australia
• Should be physically fit, alert, and comfortable with active manual work
• Must work well in a team and understand that actions in a shared workspace affect others

Benefits

• Casual hourly rate of $36.09 for day shifts, plus penalties and shift loadings
• Full-time hours on a casual arrangement
• Monday to Friday roster
• 8-hour shifts scheduled between 7:00am and 5:00pm
