About the Role
Old Mutual is seeking a Training Manager to shape and run learning initiatives that strengthen sales performance, deepen product understanding, and improve customer advisory capability. The role sits at the intersection of learning, sales enablement, and performance improvement, with a clear focus on helping teams convert better and grow premium business.
This position is best suited to someone who is enthusiastic about developing high-performing, customer-centric sales teams and measuring the business impact of learning interventions.
Key Responsibilities
The Training Manager will lead the Sales Academy function, guide training professionals, and work closely with sales leadership to ensure learning plans support wider business priorities. The role includes building programs, delivering sessions, tracking outcomes, and continuously improving the learning offer.
Strategic Leadership
- Take ownership of the Sales Academy’s overall direction, including planning, budget oversight, and smooth execution of training programs.
- Manage and coach a team of training specialists while creating a supportive, collaborative learning culture.
- Work with sales leadership to understand capability needs and ensure learning initiatives are aligned with organizational targets.
Curriculum Development and Delivery
- Carry out detailed training needs analysis to identify gaps from market developments, industry shifts, business initiatives, and performance data.
- Build engaging learning content covering product knowledge, sales approaches, communication, compliance, and related capability areas.
- Use a mix of learning formats such as instructor-led sessions, digital learning, blended programs, gamified activities, and simulations to suit different learning preferences.
- Deliver training in a lively, interactive way that supports retention and practical skill application.
Performance Measurement and Continuous Improvement
- Put evaluation frameworks in place to measure how well training programs work, using participant feedback and stakeholder input.
- Refine learning content and methods based on assessment results, best practices, and new industry trends.
- Keep current with adult learning theory, training tools, and modern learning technologies, and apply them where relevant.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build productive working relationships with stakeholders across sales, HR, product, and compliance.
- Partner with outside training providers and subject-matter experts to bring in strong practices and innovative solutions.
- Promote a strong learning culture and demonstrate how development contributes to employee performance and business results.
