The hiring company is representing Alpheya, a B2B wealth technology startup headquartered in Abu Dhabi and supported by BNY Mellon and Lunate. Backed by $300M in funding, the business is building a modern wealth platform designed to help clients expand their wealth franchise through strong digital experiences, financial products, and actionable insight. Its platform is intended for banks and financial institutions across the Middle East that want to better serve affluent, HNW, and UHNW investors. Although it operates with the scale and expertise of larger financial institutions, the company itself works like a startup with small, agile, cross-functional teams.

Role overview

This position focuses on converting business needs into clear, technically detailed product specifications that engineering teams can implement without ambiguity. You will be expected to define success criteria, set boundaries, identify what is intentionally excluded, and make sure decisions are locked down before development begins.

Key responsibilities

You will own product briefs from start to finish and translate technical documentation into tangible user outcomes. The role requires direct work with REST and FIX API specifications, with responsibility for every user-facing implication of what those interfaces allow, restrict, or leave undefined. You will need to design for every possible state, including loading, success, failure, timeout, and asynchronous completion, while making sure no important edge case is left for engineering to interpret.

You will also be responsible for defining non-functional requirements as firm commitments across performance, resilience, security, and data integrity. Integration risks and missing behaviours should be identified before a sprint is approved, not after QA reveals them. If scope must be reduced, it should be done intentionally, with the reasoning clearly documented.

The role includes ownership of asynchronous and real-time product experiences, including what users see while waiting, what happens if they leave and return, how push notifications behave, and how the product responds when live connections weaken. In this environment, asynchronous flow is treated as a core product concern rather than a peripheral case.

You will help shape internal APIs as if they were customer-facing products, including consumer contracts, versioning rules, platform boundaries, and third-party dependency risk. You will also own platform SLA expectations and treat contract failures as product issues, not just technical incidents.

Beyond specification work, you are expected to build and ship working mobile applications that integrate with internal and external APIs. AI-assisted development tools should be used to reduce the time between concept and working product, and AI should be part of your normal operating workflow for briefing, analysis, prototype generation, acceptance criteria, and delivery automation. The company expects this to be used thoughtfully, with human judgement applied where needed.

You will be expected to build telemetry into every brief, including funnel visibility, stack-wide performance, categorized error reporting, and metrics tied to business outcomes. Product decisions should be based on evidence, including what to improve, what to phase in, and what to stop doing.

Required experience and capabilities

The ideal candidate has worked as a product owner or product manager in B2B or B2B2C fintech, trading, or wealth management. You should be comfortable reading REST API and FIX protocol documentation, spotting gaps, and owning the product impact of those gaps. Experience delivering integration-heavy customer mobile journeys with explicit acceptance criteria and measurable non-functional requirements is important, along with practical experience building or prototyping mobile applications that connect to live APIs rather than static mockups.

You should also have a daily workflow that includes AI coding or product tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar platforms. Additional expectations include experience in API product design, such as consumer contract definition, version control, error handling, and SLA ownership, as well as strong agile delivery skills covering backlog grooming, sprint planning, release health, and cross-team dependency management. Strong written English is required, and Arabic would be an advantage.

Domain context

Alpheya works across equities trading, portfolio management, client onboarding, and KYC/AML processes for regulated financial institutions in the GCC. The role involves broker integrations, core banking APIs, live market data, and digital identity infrastructure. Previous experience in this domain is helpful, but technical discipline, delivery strength, and comfort with AI tools matter more.

What success looks like

The strongest performer in this role will be able to turn uncertainty into a clear and actionable brief quickly, identify integration risks and undefined behaviour before engineering reaches QA, and stand by their decisions while offering practical alternatives. They should be able to prototype a solution before committing sprint capacity and use AI to deliver at a level above what the team size would normally suggest. Each release should measurably improve the product, not merely ship features.
