Surgery Scheduler

Role overview

Casa Colina Hospital is hiring a Surgery Scheduler to serve as the main contact for the Surgery Department. In this position, you will coordinate with patients, coworkers, physicians, and physician office teams to keep surgery planning and pre-admission appointments on track.

Key duties

You will enter surgeries and pre-admission appointments into the electronic system within the required timeframe and secure the needed confirmations from outside vendors, including equipment and implant providers.

Required background and skills

The role calls for advanced computer ability, along with hands-on experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office. Candidates should be highly organized, able to juggle several priorities, and capable of supporting an efficient workflow. Familiarity with medical terminology, as well as basic anatomy and physiology, is important. Knowledge of ICD and CDM codes is also required. Strong courtesy, excellent communication, and a service-oriented approach are essential. The ideal candidate must be able to work accurately and quickly in a fast-paced setting with frequent interruptions and tight deadlines.

Education and certification

A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required. A current American Heart Association BLS certification is also needed.

Preferred experience

At least one year of recent experience in scheduling for an acute hospital or medical office is preferred.

Compensation

This position offers pay in the range of $21.00 to $23.50 per hour.
