About the Role
This position at Qatar Duty Free is for a Shop Supervisor based in Doha. You will support the Duty Manager in running day-to-day shop floor activities, with emphasis on boosting sales, keeping customer service standards high, and maintaining strong merchandising execution. The role also covers team allocation, cash handling spot checks, stock tracking and confirmation, shift-end procedures, and resolving customer issues. In addition, you will help the team meet daily sales objectives through active supervision, coaching, and motivation.
Qatar Duty Free is one of the largest duty-free retail environments in the world, featuring more than 90 premium boutiques and value-focused retail outlets, along with over 30 restaurants and cafés across more than 40,000 square meters at Hamad International Airport.
Responsibilities
- Support the Duty Manager in planning daily store operations, including staffing, cash control, and stock availability, so sales performance is maximized and company policies are followed.
- Track inventory concerns and escalate them to the relevant team to keep stock levels healthy and capture sales opportunities.
- Help set and complete shift priorities so all tasks are finished within the required timeframe.
- Review cash variances for Sales Assistants and help ensure stock shrinkage stays within budget.
- Provide on-the-job coaching to new team members to strengthen customer service skills and product knowledge.
- Perform random till checks each day to ensure honesty and integrity standards are being maintained.
- Work with the Duty Manager on shift handovers, including daily tasks, shop conditions, sales performance, staffing coverage, and overall store operations.
- Carry out end-of-shift closing procedures in line with company rules, covering tills, stock status, merchandising, and visual presentation standards.
- Process sales returns and void slips according to the applicable SOPs.
- Approve staff discounts when needed while ensuring monthly purchase limits are not exceeded and rules are applied consistently.
- Address guest feedback and complaints in a constructive way and escalate concerns to the Duty Manager or Retail Manager for follow-up and improvement.
- Keep the sales team updated each day on promotions and new product launches through pre-shift briefings and preparation sessions.
Requirements
- High School qualification is required.
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience is needed.
- Demonstrated ability to manage stock on a daily basis is essential.
- Hands-on experience in retail inventory management is required.
- Capability to handle complex situations and negotiate effectively is necessary.
- Previous exposure to the travel retail sector is preferred.
