Role summary

This is a senior, hands-on project management position focused on strengthening project delivery standards while also driving day-to-day execution. The role is based in Auckland and offers the chance to work on strategic, visible projects within a collaborative environment.

What you will do

• Shape and improve project management methods, encouraging the use of established frameworks while also identifying gaps and introducing better tools or approaches.
• Own project delivery from start to finish, including facilitating workshops, capturing requirements, building integrated plans, and maintaining quality, actions, and issue tracking across the lifecycle.
• Coach and support project team members so they build stronger project management capability and confidence.
• Prepare project timelines, identify staffing needs, define responsibilities, and coordinate resource allocation with relevant stakeholders.
• Make sure project work transitions smoothly into BAU teams and that operational leaders are closely aligned throughout delivery.
• Keep projects on track for budget and deadline targets, including monitoring financial coding, managing scope/time/cost changes, and handling change requests effectively.

Required experience and background

• At least 5 years of dedicated project management experience, ideally on complex assignments.
• Practical experience in resource and capacity planning, including negotiating staffing support with operational leaders.
• Background managing large initiatives with multiple vendors and third parties, including teams of roughly 4 to 20 people.
• Strong knowledge of financial services, especially investments, wholesale funds, superannuation, KiwiSaver, and workplace savings.
• Advanced capability with Microsoft Project.
• Proven success managing several projects simultaneously.
• Experience leading and developing a team, including conflict resolution, expectation setting, and coaching.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with clear verbal and written communication and the ability to work effectively with internal functions such as Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Marketing, as well as external clients.
• A university degree or formal project management certification is preferred but not mandatory.
