Role overview
An experienced Scrum Master is needed for a large government ICT transformation initiative that is currently in its build stage. The assignment sits within an Agile delivery model with multiple pods and supports a complicated enterprise platform covering a customer portal, CRM, modern data capability, and integration services.
You will partner with the Senior Project Manager and embedded delivery contributors such as Development Leads, Product Owners, architects, testers, analysts, and business stakeholders. The goal is to keep Agile rhythms healthy, priorities clear, and delivery practices consistent across several workstreams.
This is broader than a standard single-team Scrum Master position. The successful candidate will operate across three delivery pods, helping with coordination, dependency handling, and delivery governance while allowing Dev Leads to own the technical workday-to-day.
Key responsibilities
- Guide Agile delivery across several pods so that sprint flow, prioritisation, and work progression remain effective.
- Lead and support Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and showcases.
- Work with teams to surface, monitor, and manage dependencies, risks, blockers, and delivery constraints.
- Track sprint progress, velocity, spillover work, and delivery risks in Azure DevOps or comparable tools.
- Help Product Owners and Dev Leads keep backlogs well prioritised and ready for sprint commitment.
- Encourage transparency, continuous improvement, and reliable delivery outcomes.
- Coordinate activity across development, testing, data, integration, architecture, and business readiness areas.
- Prepare clear delivery updates and escalate issues and risks to project leadership when needed.
Experience and background
- Demonstrated experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Delivery Lead, or Iteration Manager in complex ICT settings.
- Proven ability to support more than one Agile team or delivery pod at the same time.
- Strong working knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, backlog management, sprint ceremonies, and Agile performance measures.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps or similar Agile delivery platforms.
- Capability to coordinate dependencies, risks, blockers, and delivery activities across both technical and business groups.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience operating in structured environments with governance, release management, and formal reporting needs.
Preferred experience
- Background with Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure, or enterprise CRM/data platforms.
- Exposure to scaled Agile or multi-team delivery environments.
- Experience in government, regulatory, or major enterprise transformation programs.
- Agile certifications such as Scrum, SAFe, or Kanban are advantageous.
- Experience improving delivery dashboards, tooling, and Agile reporting practices.
Additional information
This is an initial 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. The preferred start time is as soon as possible. The role is based onsite in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
