Role Overview
malomatia is hiring a Scrum Lead for its Doha, Qatar office. This is a full-time, on-site role focused on guiding a cross-functional delivery squad through the full sprint cycle, keeping execution disciplined, and ensuring smooth coordination across multiple squads in a government delivery environment.
What You Need to Bring
- At least 5 years of delivery experience overall, including 4 or more years working as a Scrum Master or Squad Lead.
- A strong history of leading mixed teams made up of frontend, backend, data, and QA members to deliver in government programs.
- Practical experience in applying Definition of Done standards, maintaining code quality, and keeping CI/CD practices consistently followed.
- Experience handling dependencies between squads in programs running two or more squads in parallel.
- Ability to communicate fluently in both Arabic and English for workshops, documentation, and executive-level updates.
- Sound judgment for managing incidents, risks, and escalations effectively.
Preferred Profile
- Certifications such as PSM II, PSM III, CSP-SM, PMI-ACP, or a similar credential are an advantage.
- Exposure to AI/ML delivery approaches, MLOps, or GenAI-related work is considered a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide an end-to-end delivery squad that may include business analysts, full-stack and front-end engineers, QA, data engineers, and data modelers.
- Run the full set of Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Work closely with the Product Owner to keep the backlog organised, prioritized, and ready for sprint planning.
- Monitor sprint health through burndown, velocity, progress tracking, and overall team indicators, while removing blockers quickly.
- Make sure the Definition of Done is followed and that stories satisfy acceptance criteria, review standards, and quality requirements before release.
- Manage dependencies with other Squad Leads, the Solution Architect, and the Program Manager.
- Maintain squad-level RAID tracking by recording risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies and escalating as required by governance.
- Coach the team in agile delivery, technical discipline, continuous improvement, and self-management.
- Provide clear and regular updates to the Program Manager and other stakeholders on progress, blockers, and delivery forecasts.
- Promote engineering standards such as code quality, CI/CD discipline, automated testing, and peer review.
- Assist with release planning, deployment coordination, hypercare support, and post-release retrospectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline.
- Good working understanding of Scrum, Kanban, and scaled agile approaches such as SAFe, LeSS, or comparable frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, and Miro or Mural.
- Solid technical awareness with the ability to question engineering choices, understand code at a high level, and interpret architecture documents.
- Experience facilitating ceremonies, coaching teams, and resolving issues across both business and technical stakeholders.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills in Arabic and English.
