Role Summary

The Sandwich Maker is an important part of the Culinary team and supports the bagged lunch program by preparing a broad range of sandwiches and specialty food items. The role includes both day and night shifts and requires close coordination with culinary leads to ensure products are attractive, consistent, and ready each day.

This is a future opportunity for a project in Moosonee, Ontario.

Remote Camp Setting

The position is based in a remote camp-style environment and includes the following amenities:

• Meals and accommodation are provided.
• Transportation to and from the site is arranged from designated locations.
• A private room with cable television is available.
• Wi-Fi access is provided.
• Laundry facilities and detergents are available.
• There is access to a gym and shared common spaces.

Key Duties

• Prepare sandwiches and related specialty items according to standard recipes and menu plans, including items such as egg salad and tuna fillings.
• Keep food stock moving correctly through rotation to reduce spoilage and minimize waste.
• Support the daily setup and organization of sandwich production.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitized work area in line with legal and company hygiene standards, including floors, counters, shelves, fixtures, fittings, refrigerators, and walls.
• Check cold food items for proper visual presentation, color balance, and overall appeal.
• Ensure there is enough stock on hand across all sandwich varieties.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should ideally have experience in large-volume food preparation in camps, banquet halls, or hotels. Prior work in a mass-production sandwich-making role is preferred, and current Food Safe certification is an advantage. The role requires the ability to work a 2-week on/2-week off rotation and to act as a cooperative team member focused on client satisfaction.

Additional Requirements

• A valid government-issued photo ID is required for travel to the site.
• The successful candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• The job involves physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs.
• Candidates must be able to climb ladders or stairs.
• The role requires standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, or sitting for extended periods depending on the task.
• Repeated hand movements are needed, with full use of both hands.
• Work may require holding the arms fully extended and working with arms above shoulder level.

Schedule and Work Pattern

The standard rotation is 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. Because the site is in a remote location, travel may be by air or via ground shuttle. Work may include nights, weekdays, weekends, and public holidays.
