Remote Architect

Role Overview

Fair Construction & Real Estate is expanding quickly as a design-and-build business focused on residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects across Somaliland. The company is looking for a full-time Architect to help strengthen its standards and systems while growing with the organisation over the long run.

This position is remote-based, with work from Addis Ababa and eventual on-site involvement in Somaliland. It suits an architect who is practical, technically capable, and ready to take ownership, work independently, and contribute beyond routine design tasks.

Role Requirements

The ideal applicant should be a qualified architect who can produce clear drawings in AutoCAD, understand the full project delivery cycle, communicate effectively with all stakeholders, and carry out regular quality checks to ensure compliance with required standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop architectural plans and drawings that clearly communicate the design intent for each project.
• Apply knowledge of engineering, mathematics, science, and building materials to arrive at practical design outcomes.
• Carry out site assessments to verify workmanship quality and confirm safety compliance.
• Track construction progress and offer guidance and recommendations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work with different teams to define project goals, schedules, and budgets.
• Take designs from concept development through to complete construction documentation.
• Create polished 3D interior and exterior visuals for presentations and client approvals.
• Assemble full drawing sets, including floor layouts, site plans, sections, elevations, and technical details.
• Prepare and coordinate MEP drawings for residential projects covering electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and drainage.
• Develop structural drawings in coordination with the structural engineer.
• Prepare finishing schedules, material notes, and detailed design specifications.
• Coordinate with internal staff, consultants, and site teams throughout the full project timeline.
• Provide design and technical support during construction implementation.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture is required, along with at least 3 years of experience in architecture and construction. Strong organisational, creative, and presentation abilities are important, as is strong 3D visualisation capability for both interiors and exteriors.

Experience in MEP design is expected, and structural design experience is a significant advantage. The candidate should be able to produce construction-ready, buildable drawings, manage multiple projects, meet agreed deadlines, and work remotely without supervision.
