About Sisk

Sisk is a family-run international construction and engineering organisation delivering places and infrastructure that influence how communities live, work, and connect today and for the generations ahead. The business operates across building, infrastructure, rail, energy, and off-site manufacturing in Ireland, the UK, and Europe, and it aims to create careers where people can grow, contribute meaningfully, and support positive change.

Role Overview

Sisk is hiring a Payroll Specialist with hands-on experience in UK and Republic of Ireland payroll. The role focuses on running weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time for employees across the UK and ROI. You will help maintain compliance, keep payroll records accurate, and handle employee questions while working with internal stakeholders and clients to deliver a dependable payroll service. Building deeper knowledge of UK and ROI payroll legislation will be an important part of the job, and familiarity with other European payrolls would be an added advantage.

Payroll Processing

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for employees in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
  • Enter, check, and reconcile payroll information with a high level of accuracy.
  • Carry out manual payroll calculations when needed.
  • Process pay elements such as base salary, overtime, bonuses, and statutory payments.
  • Assist with preparing BACS files and payroll reports.
  • Make sure payroll work follows UK and ROI tax rules, auto-enrolment requirements, and statutory obligations.

Benefits Administration

  • Handle pension contributions and statutory deductions.
  • Administer employee benefits according to company policies.
  • Respond to payroll and benefits enquiries, escalating more complex matters when appropriate.

Systems and Technology

  • Use payroll software to maintain employee records and process payroll.
  • Keep system data current, complete, and accurate.
  • Support upgrades, improvements, and enhancements to payroll systems and processes.
  • Work with internal support teams on system changes and updates.

Audit and Compliance

  • Assist with payroll audits and internal verification checks.
  • Follow GDPR and broader data protection requirements.
  • Protect the confidentiality of payroll and employee information at all times.

Team Collaboration

  • Partner with Payroll, HR, and Finance teams to resolve payroll issues.
  • Support payroll runs and critical deadline periods.
  • Help improve payroll efficiency and process quality.
  • Share knowledge and assist junior colleagues when needed.

Requirements

  • Previous in-house payroll experience, ideally in UK or ROI payroll processing.
  • Proven involvement in end-to-end payroll cycles.
  • Working understanding of UK and/or ROI payroll legislation.
  • Experience with the Coins payroll system is desirable.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel and general business systems.
  • Payroll qualification such as IPASS or CIPP.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive salary.
  • 26 days of annual leave.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Broad health, wellbeing, and lifestyle support.
  • Opportunities for career growth and development.
  • Additional benefits through the Total Rewards programme.

Recruitment Commitment

All vacancies are handled directly by Sisk’s internal recruitment team. CVs sent without invitation or approaches from unauthorised agencies are not accepted, and no agency fees will be paid.

Reasonable adjustments can be provided during recruitment to help ensure accessibility for all applicants.

Encouragement to Apply

Even if you do not meet every listed requirement, you are encouraged to apply if you feel your experience, skills, and potential fit the role. The company recognises that confidence gaps should not stop strong candidates from coming forward.
