Role overview

This post is based at HMYOI Deerbolt in Barnard Castle, DL12 9BG. Main purpose of the role

You will work to strengthen connections between prisoners, employers, and partner organisations so that people leaving custody have better access to jobs. The position is centred on building practical opportunities that support resettlement and employment on release.

Key duties

• Support pre-release groups of prisoners and encourage preparation for employment after release.
• Develop and maintain relationships with employers already linked to HMP Deerbolt.
• Increase the number of employment opportunities available to prisoners.
• Create new employer partnerships that can help prisoners move into work when they leave custody.

Assessment and behaviours

Selection will be based on Success Profiles, with behaviours and strengths assessed during the process. The behaviours considered will include leadership, communicating and influencing, working together, and managing a quality service.

Pay and benefits

The salary for this post is £29,107. HM Prison & Probation Service also contributes £8,432 towards membership of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. The employer contribution to the Civil Service pension is 28.97%.

This role is broadly open to UK nationals, Irish nationals, Commonwealth nationals with the right to work in the UK, certain nationals of the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein and eligible family members under the EU Settlement Scheme, individuals with limited or indefinite leave to remain who were eligible to apply for EUSS on or before 31 December 2020, and Turkish nationals and certain family members who have acquired the right to work in the Civil Service.
