About the role

Granby Zoo is one of the largest zoos in Canada and operates as a non-profit organization devoted to acting for the preservation of the animal world.

Main duties
Reporting to the coordinator of education and as part of the biodiversity education team, you will represent the zoo’s conservation message to visitors and partners. Your work will help bring the educational mission to life through engaging and memorable interactions.
- Lead workshops, guided tours and lively presentations on-site for varied audiences in an immersive setting
- Deliver educational activities in schools and community settings, adapting the content to the audience
- Help create and update teaching materials such as scripts, signage, scientific text and new educational products, and support promotion of department activities
- Provide daily care for ambassador animals, including feeding, enrichment, habitat maintenance and transport
- Prepare and maintain materials used for animations, workshops and events
- Take part in filming, web promotions, informational videos and other media activities
- Support special events such as Zoo la Nuit, themed days and awareness campaigns
What we are looking for
This position is suited to someone with strong presentation skills and a genuine interest in education, wildlife and public engagement.
- Diploma in natural environment technology or bioecology
- Bachelor’s degree in biology or ecology is considered an asset
- At least one year of experience in a similar role
- Valid driver’s licence
- Ability to successfully complete a presentation test
Skills and qualities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences, including children and adults
- Creativity, independence, organization and professionalism
- Comfortable handling animals such as reptiles, birds, mammals and invertebrates
- Ability to lead activities in both French and English
- Team spirit and a strong sense of responsibility
Working conditions
- Schedule of 37.5 hours per week with variable shifts, including evenings and weekends
- Role requires mobility by vehicle, including regular travel outside the city in all seasons; a vehicle is provided
- Must be able to move and carry medium-weight materials and handle animals as part of the job
- Pay is set at level 1 on the salary scale, based on experience, from $26.12 to $33.72 per hour
