Monitor/Aide

About the role

First Student is looking for a Monitor/Aide in Vancouver, British Columbia. This role supports safe, reliable passenger transportation and reflects the company’s strong focus on safety and customer care. In this position, you will help manage day-to-day route operations, support the driver, and assist with the safe handling of wheelchairs, including loading, securing, and unloading them. The pay for this job is $20.15 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Stay familiar with the route and keep a watchful eye on passenger well-being throughout the trip
• Report behavior concerns and any issues at stops to the driver
• Support pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections
• Assist students while boarding and leaving the bus
• Work closely with school staff, students, and parents in a professional manner
• Attend required safety and training sessions
• Help carry out emergency evacuations, including use of the emergency exit door
• Open and close service doors and move up and down steps many times during the day
• Keep the inside of the bus clean
• Help the driver safely back up the vehicle when needed

• Availability for early morning shifts
• Good judgment and problem-solving ability
• Ability to work under pressure and manage stress well
• Physical capability to load, secure, and unload wheelchairs
