Role Overview

The company is looking for a seasoned Mechanical Site Engineer to manage and coordinate mechanical works for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role covers networks and facilities such as pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs, valves, pumps, and related mechanical systems. The engineer will ensure work is delivered according to approved drawings, technical requirements, quality expectations, safety rules, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee on-site installation of water distribution lines, wastewater networks, transmission pipelines, force mains, gravity sewer lines, valve chambers, meter chambers, air valve chambers, washout chambers, and service connections.
  • Track the fitting of pipes, valves, accessories, pumps, mechanical equipment, supports, flanges, flexible joints, and related assemblies.
  • Confirm that all work follows approved drawings, specifications, installation methods, alignment requirements, flow directions, and burial depths.
  • Examine mechanical drawings, shop drawings, technical submittals, and construction documentation.
  • Spot design clashes, site limitations, and technical concerns, then work with the project team and consultants to resolve them.
  • Assist with RFIs, material take-offs, and as-built record preparation.
  • Monitor receipt, storage, and installation of mechanical materials and equipment.
  • Check that materials and equipment match approved submittals, quality certificates, and project specifications.
  • Reject items that are damaged or do not meet the required standards.
  • Supervise installation of pumps, suction and discharge piping, non-return valves, isolation valves, instrumentation, lifting systems, and other mechanical components at pumping stations.
  • Coordinate with electrical and control teams to support proper integration and commissioning readiness.
  • Oversee hydrostatic, pressure, leakage, flushing, and disinfection tests.
  • Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning of pumps, valves, and mechanical systems.
  • Observe operating results such as pressure, flow, vibration, noise, and equipment performance.
  • Prepare inspection requests and support quality checks.
  • Keep records of testing, completed works, and installed quantities.
  • Prepare daily and weekly progress updates.
  • Support final handover packages, including test certificates, O&M manuals, and as-built drawings.
  • Ensure HSE compliance during excavation, lifting, confined space work, pressure testing, and pipeline installation activities.
  • Encourage safe work practices and proper PPE use.
  • Stop unsafe activities and escalate safety issues without delay.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Hands-on experience with pipeline networks, pumping stations, reservoirs, valves, pumps, and mechanical installations.
  • Solid understanding of hydrostatic testing, flushing, disinfection, commissioning, and construction methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience supervising pipeline and pumping station installation activities.
  • Capability to coordinate with civil, electrical, QA/QC, and HSE teams.
  • Strong reporting, documentation, and communication abilities.
  • Good problem-solving skills and on-site management experience.
  • Ability to manage subcontractors and track progress against the schedule.
