Role Overview
This position focuses on customs documentation, shipment clearance, and trade compliance for import and export movements across the UAE and GCC. The selected candidate will help keep cargo flowing smoothly while ensuring all regulatory, financial, and client-facing processes are handled accurately and on time.
Core Duties
- Prepare, review, and file customs paperwork such as invoices, air waybills, packing lists, and HS code details in line with UAE customs rules and global trade requirements.
- Use JDL and related customs systems to manage documentation and stay compliant with UAE, GCC, and international trade regulations, including bonded zones and exemption procedures.
- Coordinate import and export clearance for air, sea, and land cargo, covering FCL, LCL, break bulk, B2B, and B2C shipments.
- Work with customs authorities, free zones such as JAFZA, and mainland UAE channels to move shipments through clearance efficiently.
- Calculate customs duties and taxes, arrange timely payments, and keep financial records matched and up to date.
- Issue invoices for duties, taxes, and clearance charges, then partner with finance teams to settle disputes and support collections.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on customs processes, duty responsibilities, and shipment status updates.
- Liaise with officials, freight forwarders, and vendors to keep customs operations moving.
- Track shipments from port to warehouse and support GCC cross-border logistics, including truck allocation and movement monitoring.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a closely related discipline.
- Hands-on experience in logistics, customs clearance, and trade compliance within the UAE.
- Strong understanding of UAE customs procedures, GCC trade rules, and HS code classification.
- Comfort using JDL and other customs or billing platforms.
- Clear communication, strong coordination ability, and effective problem-solving skills.
- Capability to manage several shipments at once and stay effective under pressure.
