Leadership and internal support

• Act as the organization’s main knowledge resource for trade compliance, logistics procedures, and regulatory obligations.
• Create, document, and roll out consistent logistics processes and best practices across North American facilities.
• Coach and develop internal teams on domestic shipping, international shipping, and customs processes.
• Serve as the key contact for logistics process design and execution, coordinating with suppliers, carriers, customs brokers, and legal advisers when needed.
• Track changes in global trade conditions and market movements to spot risks and opportunities early.
• Make sure all import and export activities follow the applicable rules and frameworks, including USMCA, CBSA, U.S. CBP, EAR, ITAR, and sanctions-related requirements.
• Manage product classification using HS/HTS codes and determine country of origin.

Tariffs and trade compliance

• Advise on how tariffs may affect the business and recommend practical ways to reduce cost exposure.
• Keep up with legislative and regulatory updates and coordinate cross-functional responses to business impacts.
• Work closely with external advisers, customs brokers, legal counsel, and trade partners.
• Build and execute improved processes that reduce tariff exposure while maintaining compliance.

Transportation and logistics operations

• Develop strong working relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and courier partners.
• Select and assign transportation providers based on service quality, cost efficiency, and reliability.
• Review freight spending and drive initiatives that lower costs and optimize duties.
• Set up, implement, and monitor logistics KPIs that support customer expectations and business goals.

Qualifications and experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline is preferred, although equivalent experience may also be considered.
• The role calls for 7 to 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, and international trade, ideally within a manufacturing setting.
• Applicants should have a solid understanding of cross-border trade rules and compliance obligations such as USMCA, CBSA, U.S. CBP, EAR, and ITAR.
• Experience handling carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providers is required.
• Hands-on knowledge of tariff classification, country-of-origin assessment, and duty-optimization methods is important.
• Experience building logistics strategies, improving processes, and leading continuous improvement work is needed.
• Strong analytical ability, including freight-spend management, cost modelling, and KPI development, is expected.
• The position requires strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, along with the ability to influence teams across functions and regions.
• Knowledge of SAP or a similar ERP platform is required.
• Professional credentials such as CITT, CSCMP, or customs/trade compliance certifications would be advantageous.
