The Lead Business Systems Analyst acts as a key connector between business teams and technology groups. In this position, you will guide major system efforts, improve business processes, and help ensure enterprise applications perform well and provide a smooth user experience. You will also contribute to technology planning and support the delivery of solutions that advance organizational goals while supervising a small team.

Key responsibilities

You will lead business systems work by coordinating between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring needs are clearly understood and translated into workable solutions.

• Steer enterprise systems initiatives and serve as the main point of contact between technical staff and business partners.
• Collect, assess, and formalize business needs, then convert them into functional requirements and user stories.
• Guide implementations, upgrades, and improvements across enterprise-level applications.
• Build and update technology roadmaps that support business strategy.
• Handle vendor interactions, including RFP, RFI, and RFQ activities as well as contract oversight.
• Set up, validate, and support business software so it remains stable and effective.
• Track application performance, identify optimization opportunities, and drive enhancements.
• Lead user training and create documentation that helps teams self-serve more effectively.
• Own incident management efforts, including root cause analysis and follow-up reviews.
• Provide guidance, mentoring, and day-to-day oversight to 3–4 direct reports.

Required qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• At least 5 years of experience supporting and implementing large enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, or similar platforms.
• Solid background in process analysis, requirements definition, and system design.
• Working knowledge of software delivery approaches such as Agile, Scrum, and Kanban.
• Hands-on experience with configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of business systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work with cross-functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with documentation and stakeholder management ability.
• Experience using data to identify issues and improve processes.

Preferred experience

• Prior work in a public-sector or government setting.
• Agile certifications such as CSM, CSPO, or SAFe, or a PMP certification.
• Exposure to IT service management frameworks like ITIL.
• Experience supervising, coaching, or mentoring team members.
• Knowledge of customer experience improvement methods such as journey mapping or voice of customer.

Compensation and benefits

Additional details

This is a hybrid role with onsite presence required three days per week in Los Angeles, CA. The position includes oversight of a small team of 3–4 direct reports and may occasionally require evening or weekend support when urgent system needs arise.
