Lead Baker

Role overview

This position is for a Lead Baker within the Food and Beverage & Culinary team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is a full-time, non-management role based on-site at the Junction of King Fahad and King Abdullah Road location. The job focuses on producing baked goods to the required quality, presentation, and food safety standards while supporting daily kitchen operations.

Core duties

• Prepare breads, pastries, doughs, and fillings, then test, bake, and decorate items as needed.
• Review the production sheet each day to understand which baked products must be completed.
• Cook and prepare food in line with recipes, quality expectations, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists.
• Maintain kitchen records to support the food safety program.
• Keep the kitchen lead informed about surplus food items so daily specials can be planned effectively.
• Use measuring and baking tools, equipment, and appliances safely and correctly when preparing baked foods.
• Follow all food handling safety policies and procedures, including personal hygiene requirements.
• Check that kitchen equipment and food temperatures are correct and report any issues to management.
• Monitor food quality and serving portions throughout the shift.
• Support management with hiring, training, scheduling, reviewing, coaching, disciplining, motivating, and developing staff; act as a role model for the team.
• Comply with company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and report accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions.
• Complete required safety training and certifications.
• Keep uniforms and personal appearance neat and professional, protect confidential information, and safeguard company assets.
• Communicate clearly and professionally, including proper telephone etiquette.
• Build positive working relationships, help the team meet shared goals, and handle sensitive matters with discretion and respect.
• Serve as a departmental mentor or example to others.
• Meet quality expectations and perform other reasonable job-related tasks assigned by supervisors.

Physical and working conditions

• Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Work may require movement across sloped, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
• The role involves reaching above the head and below the knees, along with bending, twisting, stooping, and crouching.
• Extended periods of standing, sitting, or walking are part of the job.

Qualifications and experience

A technical, trade, or vocational school qualification is preferred. The role requires at least 2 years of relevant work experience. Prior supervisory experience is not required, and no license or certification is needed.
