Junior Data Engineer

Role overview

The Junior Data Engineer will assist Good Business Karma Network in building and supporting the data systems that underpin insights for founders and business leaders. The position focuses on helping create dependable datasets and reports, while keeping data accurate and easy to use across internal systems.

What you will do

• Support the development, operation, and upkeep of data pipelines.
• Help move data through ingestion, transformation, and loading workflows.
• Contribute to the preparation of reliable datasets and reporting outputs.
• Assist in maintaining data quality and consistency across different systems.
• Work with senior data and product colleagues to strengthen data infrastructure.
• Document processes and workflows so they are clear and reusable.
• Help ensure community and business metrics remain accurate and accessible.

Work arrangement

This is a part-time, hybrid position in Sydney, New South Wales, with a combination of on-site collaboration and remote work from home.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of data engineering and data warehousing fundamentals.
• Understanding of data modelling and ETL workflows.
• Ability to work with data analytics and interpret insights from structured and unstructured data.
• Basic hands-on exposure to SQL and at least one programming language used in data work, such as Python or R.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a willingness to learn modern data tools and platforms.
• Comfort working collaboratively, communicating with non-technical stakeholders, and handling a part-time hybrid schedule.
• A qualification or coursework in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a similar field is advantageous, though not mandatory.
