Role overview
We are seeking an Inspector / Verifier to join a welcoming and supportive team. The role is based at the Mt Wellington office, with travel required throughout the Auckland region.
You will support commercial inspections, verification work, and surveying across Auckland, while maintaining a consistently high professional standard to protect the integrity of SGS at all times. A background in agriculture or horticulture would be an advantage, although full training can be provided for the right person.
Responsibilities
- Carry out commercial inspections, verification tasks, and surveying work across the Auckland region.
- Represent the organisation professionally at all times and safeguard the company’s reputation and integrity.
- Travel to different sites and work across varied locations as required.
- Follow established processes and comply with export requirements and relevant regulations.
- Prepare clear reports and manage day-to-day work independently.
Requirements
- Prior experience in agricultural inspections or a horticulture qualification is preferred.
- Ability to work within established procedures and interpret export regulations correctly.
- Knowledge of the MPI Assurance System Framework is an advantage.
- Strong personal presentation and excellent customer service skills.
- Proven ability to plan your own workload, work without close supervision, and operate in remote settings.
- Willingness to work extra hours when needed.
- Strong report-writing ability and confidence using MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and basic database tools.
- Current full New Zealand driver’s licence.
- Good physical fitness, including the ability to lift heavy boxes.
- Background in agriculture or horticulture is ideal, but training will be provided for the right applicant.
