Identity Engineer/Developer - IGA Squad - Identity and Integration

Role overview

ASB Bank is looking for a software specialist to join its Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) squad within the Identity & Integration platform. In this role, you will design, build, and enhance the integrations that connect bank applications to SailPoint, including bespoke connectors where no standard option exists. The work is highly practical and has a direct effect on secure, traceable access for a large number of people across the organisation.

About the team

The IGA squad is responsible for identity governance and administration across ASB. It is a cross-functional team made up of developers, testers, analysts, and security specialists, and it partners closely with Cyber Security and application teams throughout the bank. The group handles a steady stream of onboarding work and turns complex application environments into reliable, controlled access pathways.

About the role

This position suits a developer who enjoys integration work and solving technical problems in real-world environments. You will act as the squad’s dedicated development specialist for onboarding applications into SailPoint and contribute to a substantial pipeline of work as applications are migrated and brought onto the platform over the coming year. You will work alongside technical leaders, analysts, and testers to deliver changes safely, consistently, and with improved repeatability.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain integrations between ASB systems and SailPoint, including custom builds where no ready-made connector is available.
• Support a large-scale programme to migrate and onboard applications into the identity governance platform.
• Partner with analysts and testers to plan, develop, test, and release onboarding changes.
• Refine technical approaches and delivery patterns to improve consistency and throughput.
• Work with internal stakeholders across the bank, including application owners.
• Take part in an on-call roster for identity services, mainly handling security-related access incidents.

About you

You are a senior-level software engineer with strong development fundamentals and a practical, delivery-focused mindset. SailPoint expertise is not required on day one, as training will be provided, but you should be confident building integrations independently and working across complex systems. You should also be comfortable with work that strengthens security and reduces operational risk.

Skills and experience

• Solid software engineering experience, preferably in integration-heavy environments.
• Strong scripting capability and confidence working across systems and interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with tools and languages commonly used in integration work such as Java, PowerShell, or Python.
• Experience working with APIs and connecting systems owned by different teams.
• Ability to work through ambiguity while contributing to regular delivery cycles.
• Collaborative working style, including knowledge sharing and helping others develop.
• Interest in identity governance, IAM, or security-focused technology environments.

Working arrangements

This role is based in Auckland, Albany. It supports a hybrid working model, with time in the office balanced against flexibility where it suits the team and the role.
