Its mission is to help build sustainable special education programs that better support students with disabilities and strengthen the capability of educator teams.
Role Overview
This is a high-impact, full-time, on-site position in Pasadena, CA for an HR and recruiting professional who can operate both strategically and tactically. The role is designed to be roughly 70% recruitment and 30% HR support, with room to shift based on business needs. The successful hire will help shape sourcing strategy, drive full-cycle hiring across multiple departments, and support core HR operations in a fast-moving environment.
Talent Acquisition and Recruitment
- Manage end-to-end hiring, including search planning, posting targeted job ads, and overseeing candidate movement in the ATS.
- Build and execute sourcing approaches that go beyond standard channels to create a strong and varied talent pool.
- Review applications, conduct early-stage phone or video screens, coordinate interviews, arrange assessments and reference checks, and partner with hiring managers to keep the candidate experience smooth.
- Develop talent pipelines through college and university relationships, career fairs, networking events, and other industry connections while strengthening the employer brand.
- Follow all file retention rules for applications and resumes in line with state and federal requirements, including EEOC and employment law standards.
- Monitor recruiting KPIs and share regular updates and reports on recruitment and HR activity with leadership.
Human Resources Support
- Keep employee records, HR databases, and paper files accurate and up to date.
- Carry out routine audits to confirm that required documents are collected and properly stored.
- Support employee engagement efforts such as surveys and events, and help organize HR training and other programs.
- Assist with internal and external audits to maintain accuracy and compliance.
- Take on additional HR, recruiting, and department-related assignments as needed.
Skills and Knowledge Needed
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization.
- Solid analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Highly organized, proactive, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Good working knowledge of HR practices and employment law, with California labor law familiarity being important.
- Ability to handle confidential information with sound judgment and discretion.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar tools.
- Experience with HRIS and ATS platforms; familiarity with Gusto is an advantage.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in full-cycle recruiting.
- At least 3 years of experience in Human Resources or a closely related area.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
- Ability to pass a satisfactory Live Scan background check and TB clearance.
- PHR, SPHR, or a similar HR certification is beneficial.
- Experience in the special education sector is preferred but not mandatory.
