About the role
The Midfield Group is a privately owned business built around a true paddock-to-plate model, with operations spanning farms, factories, and distribution networks. The company focuses on supporting the growth and sustainability of its suppliers, customers, workforce, and the communities it serves, while delivering high-quality Australian products to markets around the world. It is now looking for an HR Driver to join the transport team in Warrnambool, Victoria.
Key responsibilities
- Drive Heavy Rigid vehicles for local livestock transport, prioritising safe, efficient operation at all times.
- Load, unload, and manage livestock in line with animal welfare standards and company procedures.
- Support yard activities, including moving livestock and preparing them for transport.
- Complete pre-start inspections and basic vehicle checks, and report defects or maintenance concerns without delay.
- Work to assigned routes, schedules, and operational directions.
- Adhere to road safety rules, fatigue management obligations, and internal policies.
- Take part in formal training, mentoring, and skills assessments.
- Advance through the development pathway from HR work to HC/B-Double and, later, B-Triple operations.
- Keep transport records and related documentation accurate and up to date.
- Maintain clear communication with supervisors, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Help strengthen the team’s safety culture and contribute to ongoing improvements.
Skills and experience
- Valid HR driver licence.
- Proven commitment to safe driving and awareness of road safety requirements.
- Experience with livestock handling, or a genuine willingness to learn.
- Dependable, punctual, and strongly work-focused.
- Interest in building a long-term career through structured progression.
- Ability to understand, or quickly learn, fatigue management and compliance expectations.
- Comfortable working alone and cooperating within a team.
- Clear communication skills.
- Physical capability to carry out manual tasks involved in loading and unloading livestock.
