About the Role

ProService Hawaii is looking for an HR Consultant who will help local employers navigate people-related risk and compliance with confidence. This position is centered on advisory work rather than administrative HR tasks, so you will spend your time guiding businesses through complex employment situations, not supporting just one internal team.

You will act as a dependable partner to a range of Hawaii organizations, each with different cultures, leadership approaches, and risk considerations. The work is broad and hands-on, requiring strong judgment, practical HR expertise, and the ability to turn technical employment rules into advice that business leaders can actually use.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide guidance to clients on employee relations issues, harassment and discrimination matters, performance concerns, and separations from employment.
  • Apply Hawaii and federal employment laws, including EEOC, ADA, FMLA, HFLL, and wage and hour rules, to real workplace scenarios.
  • Lead or support workplace investigations from initial intake through final resolution.
  • Work with internal partners across functions to deliver timely and coordinated support to clients.
  • Handle a varied portfolio of matters while keeping thorough records in Salesforce.
  • Explain complicated compliance requirements in a way that non-HR audiences can understand and act on.

What You Need

  • Proven background providing HR compliance advice across employee relations, investigations, performance management, or organizational development.
  • Ability to counsel executives, managers, and small business owners on sensitive workplace issues while adapting your communication style to each audience.
  • Experience managing workplace investigations from start to finish, including cases involving disputed facts and potential legal exposure.
  • Strong working knowledge of Hawaii and federal employment law, with the ability to apply it quickly and practically.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that make complex regulatory topics easy to follow.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred, though not mandatory.

Compensation
