Erie 1 BOCES is hiring a full-time Foreign Language Teacher for Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School in Buffalo, NY. What You Will Do

You will plan and deliver standards-based foreign language lessons that help students grow in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The role also involves fostering a respectful classroom climate, adjusting instruction for varied learning needs, monitoring student progress, and working closely with families, colleagues, and school leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and carry out lesson plans that match New York State learning standards.
• Teach students to use the target language in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
• Create an encouraging, inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Adapt teaching methods to support different learning styles and academic needs.
• Track student performance and keep records accurate and up to date.
• Maintain clear communication with students, families, and staff.
• Take part in faculty meetings, training sessions, and school-wide programs.
• Bring cultural learning and practical, real-world connections into lessons.
• Enforce classroom expectations and manage behavior consistently.

Qualifications

The school is looking for a candidate with a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language Education or a closely related discipline. A valid New York State teaching certification in the relevant language area is preferred, along with prior teaching experience. Strong classroom management, solid communication skills, and a student-centered mindset are important for success in this role.

Preferred Languages

Candidates with experience teaching Spanish, French, Arabic, or other world languages are especially encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $50,500 to $68,500 per year, with pay depending on experience and credentials.
