Role overview
An owner-managed commercial real estate business in Dublin is seeking a Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function and work closely with the Managing Director and CFO. The position is very hands-on and plays a central part in acquisitions, portfolio oversight, and the company’s continued growth.
The organisation oversees a varied commercial property portfolio across Ireland, including office, retail, and industrial assets. This is a smaller, non-corporate setting where the role carries genuine influence, autonomy, and direct exposure to senior leadership from the outset.
Key responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the complete finance operation across the portfolio, covering SPVs, holding entities, and property-level companies.
- Assist with new acquisitions by building financial models, supporting structuring decisions, and helping drive execution.
- Handle treasury management, borrowing facilities, and relationships with lenders.
- Lead the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and manage cash flow across both individual assets and the wider portfolio.
- Track portfolio metrics such as yields, IRR, returns, and covenant adherence.
- Supervise a compact internal finance team and coordinate with several external advisers.
Candidate profile
- ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with approximately 10 years of post-qualification experience.
- Experience in real estate, property investment, private equity real estate, funds, SPVs, ICAVs, or investment management.
- Strong technical ability with practical exposure to reporting, treasury, tax, and debt matters.
- Commercially aware and comfortable working close to transactions and senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage, coach, and develop a team.
