About the Organisation
The Salvation Army Australia is a faith-based movement and one of the country’s largest and most respected charities. Its work is centred on practical support that improves people’s lives, especially during crisis and transition. The organisation helps communities through care, safety, opportunity, and pathways to employment.
The Employment Plus network supports people to become job-ready and move into sustainable paid work. This role sits within that mission and contributes to the organisation’s growth as a leading not-for-profit employment services provider.
Workplace and Contract Details
This role is based at the National Service Centre in Modbury, South Australia. The contact centre operates on extended hours from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, and you must be able to work the required rostered hours. Shifts may be up to 8 hours long and can include non-national public holidays.
The position is a 12-month contract created to cover internal secondments linked to parental leave.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Engagement Consultant, you will speak with job seekers every day and work closely with front office colleagues to make sure appointments and activities are arranged in line with the service delivery model. The role requires sound judgement, the ability to prioritise effectively, and strong organisation to meet deadlines.
You will also work with a nationally distributed network of sites, helping ensure job seekers are engaged appropriately. In addition, you’ll support inbound and outbound phone and email communication for more than 80 locations across the country.
What We’re Looking For
This opportunity suits someone who genuinely wants to help people improve their lives, enjoys a busy contact centre setting, and delivers a high standard of customer service. You should be comfortable managing your own workload, working toward multiple KPIs, and adapting quickly in a fast-moving environment.
Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office, are important, along with the ability to learn quickly and respond confidently to changing tasks.
Pay and Benefits
The package includes above-award wages, superannuation, and allowances. The role also offers access to not-for-profit salary packaging of up to $15,900 per year, meal and entertainment benefits of up to $2,650 through salary packaging, and relocation benefits via salary packaging options.
Additional benefits include up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave, novated car leasing, learning and development support, scholarships through Eva Burrows College, supported study options, a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program, career progression opportunities, transfer opportunities across Australia, discounted health and fitness programs through Fitness Passport, up to 8 weeks of leave per year through the purchase leave scheme, up to 5 days of paid leave per year to support a TSA program or activity, and ongoing training and development.
The role also offers the opportunity to contribute to a socially and environmentally impactful organisation.
Checks, Diversity and Other Conditions
Applications are reviewed as they are received and will remain open until the position is filled. Employment is subject to a National Criminal History Check in line with Police Certificate Guidelines, and a Working with Children Check is required. For child-facing roles, the relevant state equivalent is also required.
The organisation is committed to equal opportunity, inclusion, and diversity. It welcomes applicants from all cultural and linguistic backgrounds, people of all abilities, and people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions, and intersex status. Applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged.
