Job purpose
This position is for a CompEx-certified Electrical & Instrumentation quality control inspector who will oversee the quality and compliance of E&I work carried out in hazardous environments. The role focuses on inspection, testing, verification, and documentation to ensure all installations meet project specifications, international regulations, and client expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out quality inspections for Electrical & Instrumentation installations in hazardous areas in line with CompEx certification requirements.
- Check that E&I equipment, cabling, glanding, and terminations comply with IECEx/ATEX standards and the approved project scope.
- Inspect explosion-proof systems, intrinsically safe circuits, and pressurized enclosures.
- Examine and sign off method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and quality records before work begins.
- Perform visual checks, dimensional verification, and functional testing of E&I systems and components.
- Detect non-conformances, raise NCRs, and follow through on corrective actions until they are closed.
- Work with client representatives, subcontractors, and project teams to resolve quality issues.
- Keep complete inspection logs, test documentation, and as-built records up to date.
- Confirm that all E&I activities follow safety procedures, hazardous area classifications, and client HSE rules.
- Take part in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments whenever required.
Qualifications and experience
- Valid CompEx certification is mandatory.
- A diploma or degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering, or an equivalent qualification, is required.
- At least 5 years of experience as an E&I QC Inspector in oil and gas, petrochemical, or industrial projects.
- Strong hands-on experience with hazardous area inspections and IECEx/ATEX compliance.
- Working knowledge of relevant international standards and codes such as IEC 60079, NEC 500/505, API, and ASME.
- Preferred: valid offshore medical clearance and BOSIET/HUET certification.
- Capability to use NDT methods and inspection tools applicable to E&I systems.
- Good English communication skills, including clear report writing.

This is an industrial or offshore assignment based in Doha, Qatar, at A581-701. The role follows a rotational shift pattern depending on project needs. Work may involve exposure to hazardous zones, harsh weather, and confined spaces. Strict compliance with PPE, hazardous-area procedures, and client HSE standards is required.
