Role overview
The Dishwasher role helps the management team keep kitchen operations running smoothly by ensuring all dishware, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans are thoroughly cleaned and returned to their proper storage areas. This position also includes maintaining cleanliness in the meat room and prep spaces, removing trash, and keeping the back dock and dumpster area tidy and well-organized.
In addition to cleaning duties, the role may involve basic food preparation tasks when assigned, as well as assisting with receiving and putting away food deliveries from vendors.
Education
The preferred education level is someone currently working toward a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
Experience
Prior experience in dishwashing or bussing is suggested, though it is not mandatory.
Skills and abilities
The job calls for someone who can handle the fast pace and physical demands of a restaurant kitchen, cooperate well with coworkers and managers, and keep their work area neat and orderly. It also requires the ability to read, write, and speak English, use basic math, and stay effective under pressure.
Physical requirements
This position involves regular use of the legs, feet, arms, and hands, along with walking, standing, and lifting or carrying up to 50 lb. Candidates should also be able to see and hear within normal standards, with corrective devices if needed.
Working conditions
The work environment is a kitchen setting that can be moderately to heavily noisy and may include semi-hazardous conditions. Common risks include hot surfaces, slippery floors, sharp knives and tools, heavy lifting, hot liquids, and kitchen equipment such as slicers, processors, and mixers.
Working hours depend on the weekly schedule set by management. The role is for dinner service only and follows a 5-day work week.
Reporting line
This position reports to the Corporate Chef, Chef, Sous Chef, and the management team.
