About the Role
The New York Times is hiring an experienced designer for T Magazine, its style publication. The organization’s broader purpose is to pursue truth and help audiences better understand the world, with independent journalism at the center of its work. This role is a temporary, in-office position in New York City, with four days per week required onsite and limited remote flexibility subject to departmental guidance.
What You’ll Do
- Create print and digital editorial pieces for T Magazine in partnership with the Creative Director and Art Director.
- Work with editorial, photo, and production teams to shape layouts and bring stories to life visually.
- Take ownership of front-of-book design work across the full workflow, including production coordination.
- Partner with the team to keep the art department operating efficiently and smoothly.
- Support the company’s commitment to journalistic independence and its mission to help people understand the world.
- Collaborate closely with the Creative Director and editorial colleagues across the magazine.
Qualifications
Candidates should have at least 2 years of graphic design experience and be familiar with Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with Figma is preferred, along with prior work in both print and digital design.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary for this role falls between USD 113,945.85 and USD 115,000. Eligible U.S. employees may receive variable pay such as an annual bonus and restricted stock.
