Role overview
Microsoft is seeking a Design Recruiter to help grow its Design organization in the United States. The role supports a mission-driven team focused on building inclusive, human-centered experiences used by millions. As design evolves with AI and other emerging technologies, this position plays an important part in redefining how design talent is identified, attracted, and hired.
This is a full-life-cycle recruiting role for someone who is comfortable working through change, enjoys building momentum around future-focused design work, and can translate shifting talent needs into practical hiring plans. The role blends design awareness, collaboration with engineering and leadership teams, and a strong ability to move confidently in ambiguous situations.
What you will do
You will create and run inclusive recruiting approaches that reach design talent from universities, established industry channels, and emerging talent communities. You will partner with design and engineering leaders across multiple organizations, align hiring plans with frameworks and guidelines, and adapt strategies to different team needs.
The role also involves turning changing skill demands into credible hiring strategies, especially as AI reshapes the discipline. You will shape candidate journeys from first contact through offer, communicate Microsoft’s mission and design vision, and contribute to how the company defines and hires for new design roles.
Responsibilities
The position requires strategic recruiting support for complex organizations and long-term hiring needs, along with day-to-day execution of hiring plans. You will use data, market awareness, and stakeholder input to identify gaps, advise on talent strategy, and influence leaders toward broader and more diverse talent pools.
You will also improve candidate attraction efforts by highlighting Microsoft’s opportunities and differentiators, monitor candidate activity, protect the candidate experience, and maintain compliant documentation and processes. In addition, you are expected to reflect Microsoft’s culture and values in the work you do.
Qualifications
The minimum qualification is a bachelor’s degree plus 4 or more years of experience in talent acquisition, recruiting, sourcing, HR, or related industry experience, or equivalent experience.
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree with 8 or more years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 6 or more years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience. Experience recruiting designers, systems thinkers, and creative technologists for at least 3 years is also preferred.
Compensation and additional details
The base pay range for Talent Acquisition IC4 in the U.S. is USD 85,100 to 169,800 per year. In the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area, the applicable base pay range is USD 112,000 to 185,300 per year.
Certain roles may include benefits and other compensation. The posting states that the role will remain open for a minimum of 5 days and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants are considered without regard to protected characteristics under applicable law. The posting also notes that accommodation support is available during the application process for religious needs and/or disability-related needs.
Who this role suits
This opportunity is best for someone who enjoys fast-moving environments, can adjust quickly to different teams and ways of working, and is comfortable navigating ambiguity. It calls for strong cross-functional partnership, stakeholder influence, problem solving, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. A genuine interest in design and in the future of design talent, especially in an AI-driven landscape, is important.
